In Utopia. Utopia! Utopia?, I suggest that utopia is not a future state or place, but
that it is grounded in our everyday interactions. In a world that wants many of us
to destroy ourselves, and each other, every meal we share, conversation we hold,
every expression of care and desire for one another is an act of radical defiance.
If we see these, the actions in which we are already engaged, as building utopia(s),
then perhaps we are anchored in our lives with greater intention and purpose than
if we are constantly looking outward to an uncertain future we can only hope will
be better.
